Hair I am!

Hey Dolls!
So in a previous post I mentioned that my hair is natural; however, I was not going to wear it out until the spring. Well, some people saw my fro hawk picture and loved it. They convinced me to go ahead and let my lion's mane out. I started wearing my natural hair full time about three weeks ago.  Here are some of my styles (shown recent to oldest):

Two-Strand Flat Twist "Headband" with a puff

My go to style...the puff

Wash 'n Go with EcoStyler Olive Oil Gel

Twist-Out Pinned to the side

So what do ya'll think? I'm in love with my hair. Going natural was a great decision for me and I'm truly enjoying it!

Walk on the Wild Side

Today I decided to spice up my usual boring work attire and play with a funky animal print cardigan.  I usually wear the cardigan with brown, khaki, or denim...boring, but I decided to team it up with a color combo I normally wouldn't - navy blue & grey.  I think it worked! Because the colors -brown, tan, navy, and grey- are all neutrals, they paired will together without clashing.  I'm trying to step out of the box more when pairing items together, and I think this is a pretty good start. Do we like?

Cardigan - Old Navy
Cami - Thrifted
Skirt - Ashley Stewart
Tights - George (Walmart)
Shoes - Avenue
Necklaces - Avenue and Forever 21
Watch - Avenue
Earrings - Beauty Supply Store

Sorry for the bathroom pics, but it was the only mirror handy! And I know my hair looks crazy...gotta do something with it ASAP!!!

Frohawk??? Don't mind if I do...

Hey Dolls!

So as I may have already told you all, I have started to rock my natural hair on the weekends so that I can learn it in preparation for wearing it full time once the weather warms up.  This past weekend, I wore it in a flat two-strand twistout frohawk.  I thought I was too cute! Lol.  Let me know what you think!

XOXO

103 years strong...

This past Saturday, January 15, 2011, my sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. celebrated its 103rd Founders' Day!!! The sorority was founded on January 15, 1908 at Howard University. Our colors are salmon pink and apple green. In honor of my beloved sorority, I did a pink and green shadow look:

To achieve this look, I applied pink eyeshadow to the innner portion of my lid, green to the middle and outer portion.  I used black to cut the crease and lightly highligted with a matte white. I used a white shimmer in the inner corner of my eye and contoured the outer corner with a dark green.

On founders' day, I had to rock pink and green obviously! I also decided to rock my natural hair.  I have been fully natural since June, but I have kind of slacked on taking care of my hair because it's usually covered in a wig. I am tweaking a new regimine, which I will share once it's done. For now, every week on Sunday I alternate between shampooing and co-washing. I deep condition every week. After washing, deep conditioning and detangling, I apply my leave-in, moisturizer, and seal with coconut or tea trea oil.  I then use aloe vera gel to twist my hair in either individual or flat two trand twists.  I usually only do wash n' gos with my natural hair, but because it's winter, it's not feasible.  I decided that washing and twisting on Sundays was a good idea because I keep my hair under my wig in twists all week and I rock a twistout Saturday through wash time on Sunday.  I'm enjoying getting to know my natural hair and I plan to rock it full time in the Spring.  Here's some pics of my founders' day puff:

Hope you enjoyed!
